Working New Mexico

Working New Mexico is a chapter of Working America, the fastest-growing organization for working people in the country. Here in New Mexico, we have thousands of members across the state. Together with working people across the state, we fight for our common interests—good jobs, affordable health care, education, retirement security, corporate accountability and real democracy.

Since 2007 we’ve been listening to residents in neighborhoods all over New Mexico. We talk with our friends and neighbors to learn their needs and priorities, so we can take action on the issues that matter most to New Mexico families.

As a member of Working New Mexico, you have a chance to be heard in the political debate and make positive changes in your workplace and community.

Current priorities identified by members of Working New Mexico include:

Supporting workers in New Mexico’s growing film and television industry. Reel New Mexico, an affiliate of Working New Mexico, works to enhance our creative industries so we can keep good jobs with good wages in our state.
Enforcing Albuquerque’s $8.60-an-hour minimum wage ordinance ($5.16 per hour plus tips for tipped workers), to prevent wage theft and make sure workers receive the pay they deserve.
Passing a living wage ordinance in Sante Fe County, to more closely match the $10.51-per-hour wage standard now enforced in the city of Sante Fe.
